So I might have jumped the gun a little. So I put in 47 taps on Sunday and sap was flowing really well. In a 24 hour period I collected 31 gallons and it was still going. Freeze thaw cycle is looking to bad over the next 10 days. Hoping I didn’t tap to early

I tapped a little early too. (2 weekends ago) It was the only time I could do it though. There was one decent run last week, then the deep freeze hit and froze everything up. I started trying to collect last Friday and grabbed about 30 gallons and then everything froze. I'm still dealing with some frozen sap, but I'm able to collect it now. The first boil of the season started at 5 am this morning. I collected about 60 gallons so far to start. There was actually a huge run going on last night. It ran all night. I have yet to collect the bulk of the rest. With the run last night, I'm going to have quite a bit. I'd better keep feeding the wood into the boiler, and get collecting. Good luck with yours.

Hey cabinguy. I havnt been too disappointed in flows. In the last two weeks I got a little over 100 gallons and ended up with just over 2 gallons of syrup

I've been out west for over a week and came back to the deep freeze. I've got full bags everywhere, frozen solid. Not to mention the knee deep snow in the woods. I have a lot of work to do whenever it all thaws out. I see many that are at or near overflow. This is good, lots of sap, and bad, next flow will drip right onto the ground. I can't worry about any of that until things thaw anyway. For now, we wait.
