Hi everyone, My father and I just picked up a used Surge SP-22 vacuum pump from an old dairy. We're wondering how many CFM it is and any other details / experiences any of you may have had with them. The electric motor needs replaced, the insulation is gone off the leads to the windings, plus the thing is chock full of dirt, no surprise spending its life in a barn. This is our first vacuum pump, I'm hoping it will work to get at least some of our tubing under vacuum this coming season.
Thanks, Andy

The SP-22 will give you 9.5CFM@15"Hg. turning at 400 RPM
4.5CFM@20"Hg. turning at 400 RPM
You need 1 CFM per 100 taps so it should be good for 450 taps @20"Hg.
If you wnt more info put in SP-22 into the search section and you will see it has been discussed before and you can get more info.

Thats all? I touught it was 22 cfm and the sp-11 was 11 cfm?? But I am no expert and am not sure why I assumed that,,,,,,what I do know is that last year I ran an sp-22 on 800 taps and pulled 22" all season with the best results of any pump that I have ever run,,,,they are a (in my opinion) excelant maple pump,,,and if I could find some more that is all I would run.
