semi trash pump vs water only?

Why would I not want to use a semi trash transfer pump (2 inch) vs a water only for pumping sap tanks to truck??? Semi trash are cheaper..... any in sight on this???

We use a 2" trash pump. It handles slush sap better than a water only pump.
