We have a 2x8 raised flue evaporator that is oiled fired. I was wondering what the stack temp should be at. It is a Carlin 301 burner with a 4.0 gph 70° solid nozzle and the stack temp is running around 300°. Is this a good temp? If I put a 4.5 gph 60° solid nozzle in it runs at about 450°. I'm not sure what the pressure is on the pump. Its a new rig so I hope the pressure is set correct.

I would put a PSI gauge on the 1/8" NPT port on the top of the fuel pump. Mine was set to 100 PSI from the factory. I got the the gauge from DirectMaterial.com. Anyway my stack was running at 575F at 100 PSI with a 3.5GPH nozzle on my 2x6.
Here is a good article if you haven't seen it already. http://mapletrader.com/community/showthread.php?6805-Managing-the-Oil-Fired-Maple-Arch

Going by that it looks like the 60' solid is the right one 4-5 gph. I think mine is about 450' on one nozzle 750' on two.
If you don't have pressure gauge adding one might be a good idea.
