Anybody going to Concord, NH for the NAMSC conference? You can attend just Sunday for $50 and it includes lunch. Or of course you could go in for the tours and stay all weekend. I'm looking for the list of Sunday's technical sessions, but I can't seem to find it.

Time in a Bottle: Three Generations of an Old-Time NH Sugarhouse.
Eric Aldrich, The Nature Conservancy
Summary:
In 1910, James E. Perkins built a camp and sugarhouse near his ancestor's lands in the tiny town of Windsor, New Hampshire. Over the ensuing decades, the Perkins family ran the sugaring operation, enjoyed the camp for hunting and summer outings, and became closely connected with the rugged landscape. Their story is much like other small-scale sugaring operations of the early 20th century, but was well-documented in photos and in relics saved. Eric Aldrich of The Nature Conservancy, which now owns the former Perkins land, presents their story.

What Does the Food Safety Modernization Act Mean for Your Business?

Summary:
November 16th 2018 is fast approaching! That is the final deadline for food facilities who are very small businesses to come into compliance with the Preventive Controls for Human Food Rule of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). While many maple producers will not be covered by this rule, that will not be the case for all, particularly those who sell more than 50% of their human food products wholesale or make certain types of value added products beyond syrup. UNH Cooperative Extension’s FSMA team has created several on line tools that will help you determine where you fall under the rules. Come to this presentation for an interactive introduction to these tools and a chance to ask your questions!

Maple Finances and Business Viability

Summary:
This session will provide a summary of current maple financial research in Vermont from 2013-2017. The discussion will include an overview of how different types of businesses are performing under the recent decline of bulk maple prices and growth of new maple products.
Individual business factors will be discussed in the context of broader market and policy trends. Participants are encouraged to share their input on the business issues related to a growing maple industry. Participants will also get information on the opportunity to participate in the expanded benchmark project that will serve NY, VT, NH and ME producers from 2019-2020.
