Well, finally the new shack build is under way! It has been held up by a recent change in the setback rules in my town but that has been resolved with a variance. Now if I can just get it done in the next 5 to 6 weeks, good thing I have some vacation time to use up! It is an 18' x 32' wide extension to a larger pole barn. You can see the old 10' x 20' shack in the background. It will be nice to have a little extra room. I will update with more pictures as I go.1884118842

Nice! Should be plenty of room in the new shack.

Well, time for an update. Things were going well and I got all the purlins on the roof all set to put up the steel. Then I find out they sent me steel with out the lining on it to keep it from dripping. Well, I figured I could go and pick up some of the thin foil/bubble insulation like is on the other part of the barn and just do it that way. Nope! its a special order and I cant get it for tomorrow when my help was coming. Now I am set back at least a week. I need to get this to a point that I can pour the floor before the weather gets too cold. Say some prayers for me, I hope the weather holds .......188721887318874

Well, time for another update. We got a big step out of the way today and got the floor poured. It came out great! I was worried because of all the rain we have had, so I scraped off the topsoil and tamped in some gravel so the cement truck would not get stuck. I had a few friends come over and we were done by noon. I came out better than the other pole barn floor I paid to have done. I added a few pics, the last one is of a small barn owl we noticed when we were almost done. He must have been there the whole time watching us....1891418915189161891718918

Nice work, I just hope the barn owl didn't drop a message in the fresh concrete work.

I was informed by a relative that it is a screech owl, and yes the little bugger did leave me a couple of presents !! He did not come back the next day. This rain stinks, really slows me down, I would like to get out and do some bow hunting, should be getting good real quick now....
