Efficient blower for forced air ??

Presently have a Dayton 14 inch blower on a 3x10 ,it draws18 amps at 120 volts. My operation is going to bush on a 8 x20 mobile sugarhouse. There is only a small generator ,3500 watts 120 240. I am going to order 2 Jacuzzi air blowers ,plumbed them in tandem. I will start one at a time .They draw 4 amps/@240 1:confused:000 watts. Each .will generator run both plus a couple Led lights, plus auto draw ? :confused:

Interesting concept I just hope you don't plan on cooking as you drive around town like Walter White. OK seriously The auto draw and LED lights won't be of any consequence. Now I'm wondering about the choice of blowers. I have ripped apart my share of Hot tubs and some blowers are the same type as a shop vac and they sound like jet engines. I would look at the duty cycle on the blower to see if it will stand running for 10 hrs at a time.

I do Christmas lights and I store the C9 LED lights in 55 gallon drums and when I put them away I connect them all in series and have them lit up to make sure they all work. The entire drum will run off a single fused plug without blowing.

I am using a blower from a small bounce house. PVC pipe connects right up to it and it is very quiet.

Having an off grid homestead powered by solar panels, power consumption is something I am always trying to improve. I switched to a Greenheck Varigreen variable speed blower on my evaporator from a 1 HP Dayton drawing 1000 + watts and now use less than 100 watts. The variable speed allowed me to run my dampers wide open and vary the blower speed to adjust my burn rate. If I wanted to maximize my output I would probably be about 300 watts or 1/3 of the Dayton blower with no surge current. No surge current smaller generator required to start your blower

Basic calculations follow to get you close enough: 18 ampsx120 volts = 2160 watts, then the two blowers: 4 amps x 240 volts =960 watts each, x 2 = 1920 watts and add that to the 2160 yields 4080 watts, exceeding the rating of the 3500 watt generator. One question though: that 14 inch blower....does it really draw 18 amps at 120 volts?...….that seems way high....maybe should be 8 amps?

What is the number on the Dayton blower, 18A does sound high? There will be a number on the motor tag. Unless it is a high pressure blower maybe.

Amperage was on the Leeson Motor stated 18amps at 120 volts . It dimmed the lights on 20 amp circuit. It did a good job full boil end to end of boiling pan 3x7 . on fueling putting soap like suds momentarily into my preheated hood.i think it was telling me to get a defoamer program going.

totally agree that 18 amps at 120V will dim the lights on startup. Still seems excessive for a blower motor. wonder if the blower came factory with that motor or if someone swapped the motor out. Provide a pic of the motor nameplate and I can provide additional commentary if you like.
