The annual meeting of producers will be held on May the 19 at Weston, West Virginia at the Famous Jackson Mills State 4-H camp, Looking forward to meeting with the original gang of producers from around the State of West Virginia, but especially meeting our new members which have joined in the past year, because of them we have really grown! Those on here from West Virginia that are not members now are welcome to come and sit in, (won't be allowed to vote or participate in the Syrup contest), you will most likely discover we are just like you! Maple Producers in West Virginia. The cost of membership is very reasonable at 25 dollars, plus you will receive a membership for the Maple Digest, printed three to four times a year, Digest covers a lot of topics that The North American Maple Council participate in.

The majority of UVM PMRC research is first published and available in the Maple Digest. :)

The West Virginia Maple Producers Assoc. probably around 5 years old! We have accomplished a lot in a short period. One of the goals from the formation of the Assoc. was education, The list reads like a who's who of Maple Experts. Tim Wilmont, 3/16 tubing class, Dr. Abby Vandenberg, tap hole placement and sanitation. Dr. Mike Farrell, Steve Childs, and Les Ober for Maple Boot Camp at WVU, Jake Moser, Confections Master.
Tom McCrumm, Marketing Master. Next Week we are having a Maple Grading School. Plus in Sept. we are having the Southern Maple Symposium, which has Proctor Maple Research as a partner! Also Tim Wilmont is coming back for another 3/16 tubing class sometime this year. There will be other events in the future, another good reason to join the WVMSPA. Because of the formation we have received Grant Money totaling of 300 K.

Maple Grading Class a great Success, Henry Marckres could write a book about his stories of the bad syrup that he has tasted during his years of employment with the state of Vermont, on second thought the State would not let him, too much bad PR. The association members fee was 40 dollars for the class, got a goodie bag worth that much, Hydrometer, Stainless Hydrometer Test cup, Vermont Cookbook, Three Ring binder with all info covered on the Power point presentations, info card produced by Glenn Goodrich on Syrup Density vs Temperature, Small stainless thermometer, plus a new Grading Kit. Well worth the cost of the class!
25 dollar membership, priceless because of the friends made at the meetings!
