Typo on that last thread post
I meant who runs a small arch with AOF and what results are you getting? I have heard of some on a 2x4. Anything smaller?

I wouldn't bother with AOF on anything shorter than 4'.

I'm not sure any have been tried under 4', It sure helps 2x6 and up and it may even help a 2x3, but for what you could gain the cost would be quite high. On my 3x8 when I did it, I gained 20-25%. On a 2x4 that runs at 12 gph, even the 25% is only 3 gph more, on a 2x3 rig with 6 gph, the 25% gain would be 1.5 gph or a 2x3 hybrid pan at 10 gph gets 12.5. The cost to gain any of those would be high related to the gain, BUT someone will try it someday and then it could become the newest craze. While we maple producers talk efficiency and making wise investments, we tend to want to experiment to test things out. That is likely how lots of the improvements came to be in the past, from the first ripple bottom flue pan, to the steam away , the piggy back and most other "new concepts".
