How fast do you guys draw off once you get to 219ish? I notice that the temp drops quickly if I draw off fast and I don't get much each time. Do you get it to 219 and let it trickle in or grab what you can each time?

Hi Chris, I'm one of those grab what you can get guys. I do watch the temp as I draw off. Usually I can get half a gallon a draw before temp drops. Haven't got the courage yet to try the trickle effect yet. Of course I don't have floats ether.

I always trickle to a small stream... that way the syrup is flowing and not staying long in the pan to darken, also tends to allow more boil off... I get near 7 above and start the tricle ..keep it firedgood and you can do that for hours....
