Two small buckets on back of Half Pint?

I have two small galvanized buckets attached to either back corner of my Leader Half Pint. I’ve searched the web and didn’t come up with much. Anyone know what they are?

Not part of the factory setup, for sure. Probably used for preheating the sap? The hotter you can get the sap before adding to the pan, the better.

Hopefully for washing your hands because it wont fly for heating sap that you plan on eating.
