storing sap at 32 degrees

I've seen the answer here and there, but wording the search just right isn't as easy as it may sound.

I've had 52 gallons of sap stored in a big blue barrel in the snow for at least two weeks, plus I haven't collected from my 5 gallon buckets which sit on the ground below the trees. They are all under snow.

Any idea if the sap is still good? Is it a "yeasty" smell that I am looking for?

Hope you all had a good year, or are having one. I'm pulling my taps after I boil this all down, unless it's gone bad.

I used google to search for the answer, which, of course, directed me to the mapletrader site. But it works better than the search function on mapletrader.

Anyway, I'll look for cloudy sap. This was never an issue when I was a kid, as the season was swift and short and we never stored it for any length of time.
