Does anyone use everbilt drill pumps to transfer sap! I am thinking as my buckets start to unthaw I may be able to transfer fluid to container easier with something like this?

We used one last year and a little bit this year. It does work. But it wasn't self priming. So you end up dumping water into the hose, and getting it all over your hands. And we ended up using it away from the sugar shack so we used rechargeable battery drills, and we went thru a lot of batteries. This year we used it transfer sap from our barrels into our holding tank with a plug in drill. And it worked better. But towards the bottom of the barrel it lost suction. And we ended up picking the barrel up to dump it. I just purchased a transfer pump from Harbor Freight, it should be here Monday. I got sick of the drill pump. For small amounts it worked well. But we now have enough sap that it can't keep up, and we're not that big. The transfer pump hooks to a car battery, is self priming and was $40 with shipping.

Can you post a link to the pump you went with. Looking to change my set up a bit.
Thanks!

Here's the pump I ordered:
https://m.harborfreight.com/12-volt-dc-transfer-pump-63324.html
I found a 20% off coupon online, so with the pump and shipping it was like $41 or $42.
We had the drill pump and a sump pump hooked to a generator we dragged around. The drill pump was a pain in the but. But the sump pump didn't fit down the bung of our 55 gallon drums. So we were forced to use the drill pump. Now we can use the transfer pump for our barrels. And we won't have to tow around our generator. We can hook it to whatever vehicle we're using.
I will say, shipping is slowwwwww. Ordered on the 13th of March. Won't be here till the 26th. If you need it for this year you may have to go to the store and pick it up.

I used a similar Harbor pump the past few years. I used a 4 wheeler battery which made it nice bouncing around my property. I have a steep hill and this pump struggled pumping more than 100 feet with 5/16 tubing. Now I use it to pump out my 55 gallon barrels. Upgraded to a 1/2 hp transfer pump with ext Chords and 3/4 main line. It's a beast and well worth $125. The small one is Handy but not a workhorse. I did also burn one out 3 years ago.
