It's been really tough since we sold the farm. Kind of lost. We are out of place. So Ron tapped our trees in the front yard. 6 taps. Well, what a surprise. Hes had a steady flow of sap. Made 4 pints of golden so far. He has a propane fish fryer in the garage,i mean sugar shack. We're entertaining the neighbors with the buckets. Went to get eggs yesterday before the storm. Then stopped at a local place to see what they were doing. Great maple aroma spilling out of that place. Back home to finish some on the kitchen stove. Back out to pick up some filters at an Amish farm near our old farm. They had run out of wood and were buzzing it from a wagon with a gas engine. Then to another place to say hi. These 2 guys were the ones that helped us so much when Ron got out of the hospital with diabetes. They were hustling along. One of the best days we've had. Snowing now as we get hit wirh another big storm. Buckets all full. So he'll have boiling today. Looking to get a sign made for his new sugar shack(the garage is actually great)Maple weekend coming up![ATTACH=CONFIG]18014

What a heartwarming picture. Ron looks like he's in his glory.
It certainly looks like your neighbour across the street has a few maples........ a possible expansion to Ron's sugaring fun?

Do you still have Highland Cattle in the back yard or in the back of the garage?

Can't think of any better therapy than what Ron is doing. Great to hear how things are going.

Oh Dave you are something else! No cows here. I have spent the winter feeding the grey squirrels, red squirrels, rabbits and birds. The reds cone on the deck and sort through their food bowl. Seems stale twinkies are the favorite. I limit what they get because red squirrels eating too much sugar isn't the best. They're already nuts!(ha,ha)more snow yesterday. Sap frozen in buckets. Ron will get busy with that latter today. Somehow he can manage to use an awful lot of my pots and kitchen stuff. The farm kitchen was so big I had plenty of room, not so much here. He's having a good time though.
