Replacing my Hydranautics PVD-1 with an XLE-4040. I’m reading about a star shaped nipple at the end on the XLE. Is anyone familiar with both of these membranes who could tell me what additional parts would be required to make the conversion? Also I use soap from Dominion Grimm.17862. Clearly says it’s for the PVD 1 but didn’t know if it was also good for the XLE?

I’m passing sugar BTW.. and just wondering if it’s possibly a “U” gasket or an O-Ring issue. Or if possibly I put the membrane in the vessel in the wrong direction. Membrane has been in for a few years. Could just have worn out. (New XLS-4040 has been ordered.)

Please take a look at my three pressure vessel connections. The nipple at the very bottom of the membrane is permeate. The two larger ports (off of the low pressure pump) one port attaches to the vessel above the “U” shaped gasket and one attaches below the “U” shaped gasket? I have had the “U” shaped gasket facing down.

Which way should the U shaped gasket face?

“U” down or “U” up?

The other thing I don’t understand is how permeate gets into the center tube so that it can leave the vessel. The inner tube doesn’t look perforated?

Where does concentrate exit the membrane? From the far end or from the side of the membrane?

Thanks very much for any help you can provide.

Justin

One end of the membrane should have a plug in it. The open side of the u gasket should be toward the plug end.

Ohhhhh...... I think I had that wrong. That could allow some blow by.

The membrane is out and a new one is on the way. So I guess I have to go with it.
