From what I can tell.... outlet 1" pipe at top has to be able to swivel... is there a special pvc fitting I need to to attach to it do that it can still swivel?

Ya go to Lowes there is a pvc fitting that drops over it with a threaded bit in the middle so you can put in a nipple.
