Well I hope we get a cold front soon. The extended forecast shows only 4 nights of the next 15 below freezing and just barely. then we're mid march and I can't imagine it will be much better. If this holds true it would be a devastating season. Let's hope for the best.

I know what you mean. This Jet stream need to go down just bit. This been my new map I have been watching. It could be 7 days before we see below freezing temperatures.

ok I think I just need to look away from the forecasts. Every one is different and who the heck knows what's going to happen. All we can do is hope for the best I guess.

I'm a little further north in Bay City but I seem to remember having an extended period of a week or so during early March last year where it didn't drop below freezing and then we had a few decent runs afterwards till the beginning of April. Forecasts can always change, even a few degrees can make a big difference.

I don't tend to do what others do. Last year I tapped in Early Feb and I stayed in until almost April. With gravity.

This year wasn't going to be able too. But tonight my daughters boyfriend and I just put 45 taps in. Its pouring out of the trees. The flow the way its going will be great tonight and tomorrow. Sugar content is much higher than last year.

Extended March forecast in Mid-Michigan looks promising. Put in 150 taps this morning, mostly hard maples and a few soft maples, all on buckets. Checked some of the soft maple sap this evening and it was coming in at 2.25%. Way better than last year when it was 1 to 1.5%. It will be interesting to see what the hard maple sap comes in at tomorrow. Will be putting in a 175 more taps tommorrow..
