Rainwater in buckets

Curious peoples thoughts on rainwater and tree grundle in your sap. Got an absolute monsoon in Michigan today. Had one bucket with very discolored sap. Other tap on the same tree was perfectly clear. Have sugared for several years now, first experience with this happening. Keep it? Throw it out?

We dumped probably a dozen or our 60 single tap buckets this afternoon because of the off color and all the rain. To me it is early in the season and we will make it up later. Right or wrong I am not sure, just what we did.

Thanks! That was my thought too. Hate to taint the first good run. I grabbed an empty gallon water jug and ran the problem line(I think) away from the tree temporarily.

I would dump it personally. Hard to tell if it definitely is just rainwater. Hate to sweeten the pan with bad stuff then boil the seasons best sap on top of it.
