Don't know how many know our member here who goes by "Danno". He's from the Syracuse area. Sometime last year they discovered he had cancer, now he's fighting for his life. He was hoping to sugar again this year, and I walked his woods with him last spring figuring things out. I hope he doesn't mind me posting this here. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Danno, my prayers are with you. Cancer is a horrible mistress. Just realize that great advances are being realized in the treatment of cancer, we just hope they find the right one for which ever form of cancer you have.

A lot of us can relate to what Danno is going through. Cancer sucks. I hope that he beats this thing and can get back to sugaring again. Thanks for sharing this with us Tim.

Sapman tell Danno our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.
Sneak him some maple candy or sugar. It will only help brighten the spirit.

Hey Tim -

Just saw your post. Thank you so much for your thoughts. Yes, this has been a total kick in the ***. Funny how things work out. I was 12 hours away from ground breaking on a new 28X40 sugar house with all new equipment ordered to start a new bush when I got the news and felt that I had to at least temporarily pull the plug. I'm hoping to produce again some day, it's in my blood, and miss it terribly. For now, I try to get my fix by visiting some of my old sugar producing friends and sitting for a while in their sugarhouses while they make steam:)

Sorry to hear this, danno. Like has been said, I think a lot of us feel for you right now, since cancer seems to be somehting that has touched more and more of our lives through the years. Rest up and enjoy the steam this year, and hopefully next year you'll be back at it yourself. :-)

Glad you're getting in on some of the action this season! If you ever find yourself near Fulton, stop in at my sugar house.
We're all pulling for you!

Over the last year, he did an incredible amount, especially given his condition. He fought very hard, and appeared to enjoy his life still, but was probably in a lot of pain. Certainly a very brave individual, who got lots of love and support.

He certainly is missed. Praying for his family, also.
