Picture of buds — is my season over?

I thought I had silver maples but I’ve been told these look like red maple buds. Does this mean I’m done or do I wait for the buds to pop open?

From my experience the reds will stop running completely before having to pull taps. Never had any off flavors in my syrup this far.

Those are flower clusters you are fine.
