Maple Guys Maple Jet Filter Press

My major purchase in my 2nd year was a filter press. I decided to go with the Maple Guys Maple Jet Filter Press. I decided on this one for the price point and I’m not big enough to ever bottle more than 2-3 gallons at a time. At the same time, I needed to upgrade from my current setup with a homemade steam bottler if you can call it that.

Anyway, I used it for the first time today on a gallon and a half of finished syrup. I couldn’t be happier with the 15 plus bottles of crystal clear syrup!

Good to know, got my new evaporator from Chris and saw he had a bunch of them. Always wondered how well they worked. Did you get the hand pump or electric version ?

Hand pump. No power back in my woods other than a small solar panel for lights... next year I’m hoping to upgrade to a bigger panel and battery bank. The hand pump worked very easily. I only had a gallon and a half. With my woods I’m maxed out on taps for another 5 years or so till my 30-35 other reds get to 10+ diameter. I’m may run the 45 I have on 5/16 gravity on 3/16 vacuum next year so I get more yield. But, for a gallon and a half it worked flawlessly. I set my temp at 200 to run it through hot but I think it can easily handle a lot more.
