My line is 12 feet over the trail,in the wind the line comes down, what can I do so the wire doesn't break? do I not use wire? I attach to 2 big oaks. This has been a problem for 4 years. I can't go under the trail.
Thanks Brian

Can it be hooked up with a spring on the wire. I am thinking the trees sway too much and snap the wire.

Try using a piece of cable.

High tensile doesn't break, stay away from soft aluminum wire and you will have much more success with tension

How big is your line and how long the span? I have a 3/4 main that goes 70 feet with no wire and has no problems. I use a gripple. Finger trap at one end and a finger trap with a rachet at the other. I also do this to get a 5/16 over head at the sugarhouse and just use the hollow rope trick. Jeff

What kind of wire are you using? I have a 1" line that is secured about 3/4 of the way up a 40' spruce tree that has been there for more than 10 years and I've never had the wire break or the pipe come down. The other end of that line is about 1,000' away and goes over a large ravine. It is side tied in the tops of other trees along it's span. I use high tensile electric fence wire with ratchets at each end.
