Has anyone had one of these pump's go on their RO? If so is it typical to have to replace these? What would the cost of a replacement pump be on a machine capable of processing 600 GPH?

Thanks,

What kind of ro do you have?

When I bought my RO the multistage hp pump was shot. I took it to get rebuilt. There are tons of shops that rebuild pumps. Might take a little longer. But costs way cheaper then a $2000 pump.

Most pumps can be rebuilt unless they have totally grenaded.

Now I hope I'm not jinxing myself but what was done in the past was the mounted the high pressure pump with the motor on the bottom shaft facing up. When the seal goes it leaks into the motor. Many times they don't leak when running but when the pressure is off. You might get the motor fixed but the pump seal is warn. I know my dealer has a shelf full of replacements.

I wouldn't condemn the machine as a whole but the individual component.

Thanks all! I ask because I am looking to purchase a 4 year old machine so I wanted to have an idea about what might go wrong.

Bearing went on our lapierre high pressure pump last year. If I
Recall it was under $200 for the rebuild.

I know D&G in Georgia (anyway) keeps rebuilt pumps on hand. I have (currently for sale) A d&g MACHINE PUMP STARTED MAKING BAD NOISES PART WAY THRU LAST SEASON. Called them up was told to bring in the bad they gave me a new rebuilt to put on my machine. I had to pay what it cost to rebuild my old one which they will roll into there exchange program. Got me out of a major issue in a hurry. If I remeber it was around $600 to fix my old pump.

We have a CDL 250 Hobby RO and the high pressure pump went. We went through three rebuilt pumps in a couple weeks. The dealer swapped out a working used unit and went through ours. They put a new high pressure pump on and it should be running good this year (they tested it and we have yet to test it). The Dealer has going above and beyond to support us. We will be upgrading next year to a CDL 600 unit.

Sometimes the rebuilt stuff is not that great. Probably depending on who and how it was rebuilt. Maybe certain sizes just are not worth rebuilding. I think our cost was about $200 for the new pump and the used ones were about $100.
