Smoke stack.

Is there such a thing as to much smoke stack. I've got a 2x4 arch and have 9 feet of stack I'm thinking of adding on 3 more feet. Opionions?

Not likely too much, more just gives more draft. There is such a thing as too little however, 2x the arch length is the minimum. My 3x8 by that should have 16', I have 22 feet. When I had a 2x6 (should have 12') I also had 22 feet. That was to get thru the roof and at least 4' above the roof peak. The both work or worked well.

I have 18' of stack on my 6' arch, so the same ratio you are talking about. It has a great natural draft. Go for it.

I have 17' of stack on my 2x6 and when I didn't use a blower I had a real good draft because of the taller stack. I thought that I didn't need a blower because of the good draft but added a blower anyways and never looked back.

I have only 13 feet of stack on my 2x6 and have plenty of draft even without the blower. I wonder if having a rain cap on the stack effects the draft ? It's probably minimal..
