Currently I am just using food grade five gallon buckets with lids that have an o-ring in them so they don't slosh and I lose a bunch of sap it's quite a distance from where I tap the trees back up to my house so I'm looking at maybe having a tank that I can put the sap into instead of the buckets but what if anything do people use that have a kabota 900 for hauling sap?

I can't tell you what is best, but I use a 65 gallon leg tank in my Polaris UTV. You can actually get two of these in the back of the Polaris but the weight becomes an issue if they are too full.

How many taps are you collecting?

54 Total ( 10 in my front yard trees and 44 at back of 20 acre property)
The 10 in front yard are easy enough to deal with buckets so I'd be eliminating need for collection buckets in the 44.
What is a leg tank?

To me its also about convenience. I think the best set up for collecting on a tractor or any other ATV style is a tank and transfer bucket. I would go with a nice storage tank that will allow for growth and then make a transfer station. On the back hitch you can mount a 5 gallon bucket/pail with a 12 volt marine bilge pump in it with a hose up to the tank. Have a switch buy the bucket to flip on or off. If you can get a small pump with a auto float switch all the better. Make it low enough for easy dump in and high enough so it doesn't cause bottoming out on the trails.

You can also get 5 gallon bucket paint strainers that have a small cut out for the hose out and that will help with twigs bugs and dead squirrels.

I'm a very lazy person so I'm always looking for a quicker faster better way. Lifting 3/4 full pails of sap is hard on the old body. Having help is the key to sap collection so if you can make it easy for everyone your help wont abandon you.

I use a 120gal leg tank. From (tractor supply ) farm supply store. On a Small trailer. The tank on the trailer is lower and it’s easier to dump buckets of sap into.

How well does a kubota handle 200 gallons of sap in the bed? Get sinky in mud?

If you have a catalog from a maple supplier they have pictures. They look from the end as an upside down “U” then stretch it out. Hole on top and draw off on an end. Google tractor supply 35 to735 gallon.

I have had to winch myself out a couple times(poor judgement on my part) when its fully loaded you need to pay attention to the road

For my RTV I have used 2 55 gal drums with removable lids and that worked but I could barely reach over the side to dump the buckets standing on the ground. My helper once forgot to take the lids off and that was a surprise dumping 4 gals of sap onto the lid. This year I'm upgrading to a tote with a small transfer bucket and Seaflo pump. I'm going to rig up a bracket for the receiver hitch to hold the bucket.

Hey Ogden's
I had a similar situation first time with a full bed of 5 gallon buckets/ sap
Love my Kabota 900, just hook winch up and very easily pulled right out...
It's a tank with alot of grunt in that diesel motor and gets used all the time around farm
