I made a new AUF blower housing for my arch and it occurred to me that as a reverse fired blower most of it is going to hit the front of the arch below the door and go up, Is that exactly what I want? or should i put some air diverters on the bottom of the pan to spread the air path and direct it upwards in a few spots as well?

here's what i have now.

i was thinking about taking 2" angle iron and welding them into a triangular pattern, similar to a bowling pin lay out to spread the blower air from the 8" opening out to 30" wide.

I think it will come through the grates pretty evenly. I would install it as is and give it a try

It should be pretty even, depending on the openings in your grate. I agree, just give it a try and see how the air flows up through the grate. You can just set a brick in front of the air inlet to break up the flow and that should be good enough.

Put a flat piece of steel across the door end of the grates. This will keep the air from cheating up the front of the arch
