Hello everyone! I want to thank you all for having me. It is a privilege to be amongst so many brilliant minds of the maple industry.
Ive been contemplating an RO build for awhile now and have settled on like many here on the stuff I have available and I know it's not all perfectly matched but I gotta try to make due with what I have.
Long story short we have about 140 taps in all reds giving us 2.5-1.5brix sugar average. Im just too busy to boil my own sap at this time so I have a neighbor running a 10,000 gallon annual sap intake operation boil it. He takes a cut of the finished product. I want to supply a, you could call it a value-added sap in the hope to increase my cut and reduce my deliveries. My major components in order as follows...
Bulk tank- Shallow well pump- 10" 5 micron filter- procon series 4 w/1hp motor- (1)4x40 xle membrane-
Questions are:
1- is a relief or return to feed tank needed somewhere between the the well pump (centrifugal) and the procon (low flow positive displacement) or do you just let it cavitate and warm up the sap a little for ya? Or use an accumulator tank and pump control to maintain a set feed pressure?
2- if I wanted a concentrate recirculate circuit where would it exit the concentrate line? before or after the concentrate flow control needle valve? Then enter the feed side before or after the well pump or b/a particulate filter?
Thanks again for bearing with me here, I searched for hours and couldn't find the answers. If there is something that flat out throws a red flag with my project don't hesitate to shout out just try to go easy on me
