I am curious about the ss bucket spouts that came out this year. I am happy with the few tree saver spout I use. But the change I saw between my plastic Health spouts and the stainless I swiched to has me wondering if they seem to run longer/better. Two years ago I started using 17/64 ss straight taps on my tubing and they run great. I actually made more syrup this year than last on same # of taps. So did anyone use them this year and what do you think?

I did a test w/ 5 stainless bucket spouts (I assume you mean the 5/16 ones that came out this year with the wide flange on the end) I used them for about a week and did not like them ....there was not enought to hold on to the bucket with and the buckets would fall off in a moderate wind. I switched back to the cast leader tree savers and they held on very well even in some big winds. I usually boil my taps for 30 min. at the begining of the season. These tree savers ran for 6+ weeks this season with no reaming...

just my 2 cents worth.

I have 50 of them never used for sale if anyone is interested. I didn't want to open the holes any bigger in my buckets so they just sat here.

Just what I paid for them - $1.10 apiece, $55.00 for all of them and I'll pay the shipping.

Like Tuckrmtn I have great success with the Leader cast aluminum 5/16" bucket spouts. They run longer into the season than the 7/16" bucket spouts. There are a couple of threads on this subject on this site already if you want more info.

I bought 35 of the leader cast alu spouts last year and loved them. I plan on more for this year.
