The new Smoky Lake Corsair Arch needed a new home, started building this one in November. The January thaw has allowed good progress. 172771727817279

Interesting cantilever along the sides. Looks like you'll have a comfortable sugar house just in time to tap.

Very Nice! I couldn't swing a shack the same year I bought my corsair, so I boiled last year in a temporary shelter. Very happy to have a permanent shelter this year.

Looking good Joe, keep posting pics as you progress!
Definitely need to stop by and see your set up this spring.

Looks like you are coming right along with your new sugarhouse. You will enjoy your new evaporator a lot more being inside a nice building. Good luck with the rest of the work.

As we were cutting rafters my buddy and I kept thinking of boiling on a real stove (with dry feet) this year; certainly kept our motivation and work production high. Looking forward to the new stove and shack.

Scott, please do stop up! Dave and I would love to make a run down to your place this year as well.

Finished the roof rafters today. Then put a piece of plywood to cover the cupola hole. Getting closer to keeping snow out of the shack.

Nice, whats your plan for finishing outside? . I built mine similar last season and still haven't done anything over plywood.

I'm just finishing a small cabin out at my land as well, so was thinking I would paint the shack kind of the same color as the cabin. 17402

I have also entertained the idea of 1X2 strips to the outside for looks, a dark brown metal roof will happen this summer as well.

Got the cupola built, and now weather tight until I can do some roofing this summer.

And the chimney is through the roof and ready to cook some syrup! Could have planned the cupola a bit better and moved one more opening towards the front, so the stove is offset to the side. I am going to like the room on the working side of the stove and there is still plenty of room on the other side.

Looking good Joe!
A lot more work than a guy would expect isn’t it?
My project took way more time (and money) than I expected.
Well worth the work though, I will never boil outside again.
I need to get in and service the department’s nozzles soon, maybe I can schedule a tour on the same trip.

Thank you, Scott! I am pleased with how this is turning out and am looking forward to boiling "inside" this spring.
I agree and appreciate the time and money comment! Who would have known 1/2" CDX would hit $26/sheet?? Glad the majority was bought beforehand.

Your company and tourism is always welcome! Heading for Ft Lauderdale the 15th - 27th, so any time before or after would be great (not the best timing for a trip). Hoping this cold snap hits as predicted so syrup season waits for more 'normal'.

I have to see what the captain’s schedule looks like this month and schedule a trip accordingly.
Theresa arrived in Phoenix a couple hours ago - joining Michelle and the kids for a couple days.
Ken has been out there for 3 weeks now, Brewers are looking good!
I plan to be tapped by next weekend.
Best wishes to you, have a great trip.
