Just finished a job in southern vermont where over the course of three days I must have "mowed" 300+ sugar maple saplings with my Fecon...some nice ones were 4"+ inches.
Pains me to think of all that potential sap/syrup that wound up as mulch...
Mulch doesn't nearly taste as good.

Tuckermtn I hope there was good reason for doing this. 4" sugar maples are a good start to a sugar orchard or god forbid timber orchard.

Russ- reason: clearing out some multiflora rose, bittersweet, and honeysuckle that was mixed in with the sugars...trying to avoid the chemical treatment since there is a 27 acre organic hayfield next door. But I think the landowners eventual plan is to sell off the 5 acres I was working on. whoever buys it has 40-50 taps right off the back porch
