Hello everyone, I have some concerns with switching over to new drills this season. Will the drill that drills at 2,000 rpm dry out the tap holes? We used to use drills that ran at 1,500 rpm. Any ideas would be appreciated

Faster is better as long as the bit is sharp and you don't wobble the drill. Use a bit made for maple, they are much better for the tree, and save it, do not use it on other jobs. Go in and out without stopping the drill. The speed of the drill has nothing to do with tap holes drying out, contamination does that. Use new taps every year, and new drops every 3 years for the best balance between the cost to replace compared to the loss of sap for not replacing.
