My son and I are putting together a RO. He bought a used homemade unit this fall, and we are building off of that. It was a single 4" cylinder with a TSC shallow pump that fed a procon high pressure pump on a 3/4 motor. Previous owner burned up the procon. Our first step was to scrap the wooden frame, and go to a surplus computer server half rack on wheels. This IT rack has great attachment points, rolls easy, and feels sturdier. Ordered new procon pump, and adding a 2nd membrane. Wanted to keep this project under a $1000, but we'll see! Next item is a 1/2 hp carbonator pump that would fit the new procon.
Anyone out there have a source for the high pressure lines from the procon 'out' to the first canister, and then to the 2nd?
We watched all the Cornell youtubes for guidance. Almost looks like he used hydraulic tractor hoses for the 8" rig. Could that work? We are newbies to this and just want to cut down on boiling raw sap. Mostly soft maple average 1.8-2.8 sugar, so looking for 8% if possible. I'll post more pictures as we go...

Hi
Checkout http://www.waterconnectors.com/
I made my 330 GPH RO with the hoses above. They are stainless and good for 250 PSI. My motor is 1.5 HP with a stainless steel procon pump. The RO works awesome and I have put 280 PSI on them just to test and no leaks
Good luck with your build

My first ro ( 4") used 1/2" air line (similar to pex) with sharkbite style connectors. Held fine @ 250 psi.

At my real job they just replaced the Culligan RO unit, I can get the unit if anyone needs it as a starter? otherwise it is headed to the scrap pile! I was thinking that maybe someone on here is considering building a RO machine, it has the clear gauges showing how much concentrate and permeate are going thru unit, also has a membrane pressure gauge that goes to 300 psi. I can't get a picture of it until it is removed from the property, PM me if you are interested thru this message board. I probably will have until early next week before it is tossed.

We are building an RO system too. I don't understand the purpose of the bucket - have seen it in several pics on sugarbush and map,e trader

Are you referring to the wash tank?
It's so you can mix and heat your wash (acid / soap) and recirculate it back through the RO.
I bought a brand new laundry tub at rona for mine. Works great. And it already has a drain.
