View Full Version : Ro size
What’s a good ro size for 350 taps on gravity tubing and eventually expanding to 500?

I suggest a 250 GPH. Then if you outgrow that and get up to a lot more taps than 500 (on vacuum) just sell it and get a larger one. Ro's hold value well if kept in good condition.

I agree with Dave, we are at 600 taps with a 250 and it is a good match.

We started using a RO at 275 taps on a sap puller and quickly went to about 330 and more since. We tossed around the idea of a 125, but it wasn't hard to see an expansion in the future and an upgrade would have been more than the difference to buy the larger unit. I'd recommend a 250 for your size.
I’m just starting to look into one for next year. Do you need two tanks + concentrate tank which that would be my existing tank for evaporator? Will plastic totes work and can you leave them outside and just have a heated room(limited space) for ro? Anyone have a diaphragm or pics of their set up? My wife is not going to be happy with this upgrade I need all the support I can get..lol... thanks!

You need a tank for your sap, one for your permeate, and then one for the concentrate. Are you located in Michigan? If so, you are welcome to see our setup if you don't mind driving to Gaylord. I can send you some pictures once I get things set up for this year, which will be a couple of weeks from now.
