Anyone ever tried to pump hot syrup thru a shurflo diaphragm pump? Sounds like a bad idea but dont see why it wouldn't work. Thoughts? Im not sure if the plastic diaphragm head would handle it.

It depends on the pump specs. Look to see what temperatures it is designed for. A syrup diaphragm pump is rated for 200 F on the low end and up to 220F or more for other pumps. I suspect a Shurflo is well below that, but it's only a guess.
If you try pumping hot syrup thru the Sureflo and it is not designed for the heat, it could be damaged beyond repair.
