NY just released a new marketing program called NYS Grown & Certified to include Maple Syrup. The requirements as follows:
-100% of syrup is sourced from NY Maple Trees, up to 25% may be sourced from out of state, if required grade is not available.
-Certificate of completion of Maple Food Safety Class (Cornell Extension)
-1 of the following certifications: NYS AEM Tier 2 (past 3 years), or certified Tree Farm (American Tree Farm System), or Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Forest Management Certification (Forest Management Plan)
NY Grown & Certified is a statewide, multi-faceted marketing program designed to identify high-quality wholesale and retail agricultural products. Brochures, stickers and signs are made available for qualifying growers.
