Auto Drawoff Temperature probe placement

I'm not sure where to place the temperature probe on my auto drawoff. In the drawoff section of my syrup pan, or in the section upstream of the drawoff section, or someplace else?

I would put in your draw off section 1/4" off the bottom of the pan (I use a drill bit to gauge mine).

How large is your syrup pan and what is the configuration (reverse flow, cross-flow, hybrid)? Boiling sap or concentrate (and what level)?
