Putting together one of these pumps with a honda motor...what do you guys use as a baseplate to mount the pump and motor? And what is the easiest way to keep belt tight in this set up

I put one together but still need to add the final touches to it. I used a 2x8 and an idler pulley from tractor supply.

Not quite complete (mainly releaser stuff yet). Hope to get it fully up and running to have it run once or twice this year.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180107/12438214cae6237b8d851666363e6616.jpg

Thanks for the pic... looks great!

How do you loosen belt off the idler wheel?

Anyone have any experience putting a gast 1550 on an electric motor? Sick of filling a gas tank 2-3 times a day

That was going to be my next question, what size electric motor works best. I just picked up a 1/2hp used electric motor that spins 1725rpm so I'm thinking I'll match the pullies and should be good to go

i think that will work fine , the 1550 i used to have was a 1/2hp 1725 rpm with the same size pulley on the motor as the pump and it worked great

well unfortunately my 1/2hp elec motor didn't work out. Runs fine by itself. Hooked it to my gast 1550 this weekend and fired it up. I shut off all my lines to the woods so basically only pressurizing the releaser. It would never get better then 8" of vac before the motor would stop turning. If I had half a brain I would have had this all hooked up two weeks ago before the sap was running but mr procrastinator had to wait for the sap to be flowing. Oh well, 1.5 hours later, and a switch back to the gas motor and I'm pulling 23". I'll keep my eye out for a 1.5-2hp electric motor.
