cleaning flues

i want to know if you need to clean the flues on a pan after every boil or if you can go a couple boils and then clean.

I run a brush through the soot side before every boil. I don't normally clean the sap side during the season although some producers do.

I did drain the evaporator and rinse it out early in April after making some buddy syrup. I then eliminated the red maples from my tubing system and made some nice medium and dark amber syrup.

Congrats on getting a pan maplekid. Is it in good shape? Welded stainless?

yeah it is brand new and is stainless steel. the price i paid was good to $670

yeah i had to spend all my savings for the pan and 40 buckets covers and spouts all together it came to $790. but i need a finishing pan if you know anyone with one. it would be graetly apriceated. i need a used one i only have $150 left so it has to be in that price range..... thanks. by the way my name is nate

Pleased to meet you, I'm Pete. I don't know anyone with a pan for sale, in fact I would love to find a small pan for a friend of mine to finish in. I'm too far away from anyone on here for it to be convenient, shipping gets to be too much in a hurry. Keep your eye out over the summer, you'll find something. Check back at Bascom's every so often, you might see something good. You might even want to check what a new pan would cost, you can get exactly what you want... but might be outta your budget, but doesn't hurt to ask.
