Today my shiny new evaporator was delivered and I have never bricked one before as this is my 1st professionally built unit. I had one question about how far up to run the fire brick. When I got to the top, the top row of brick was almost touching the bottom of the flues (see pic).
Is this what I want, or should I not put brick that high?16914

That’s fine. As long as you won’t be banging the pan against them if you pull it out and put it back in. It’s good to have it up pretty high in the back for when your chucking wood in.

Yes you want the bottom of the pan to just be missing the brick. That will force the heat thru your flues instead of it just running under them and out the stack Sorry can't tell from picture did you have your rail gasket in place that would raise you 1/4" or 1/2" depending on which one you us.
