Granger sells a insulation that is rated for 1200 degrees. Is that suitable for insulation behind the fire brick in the arch? Any info would be great.

Amazon is a pretty good alternative, I just ordered 1 inch thick x 24 inch wide x 25 foot long roll of ceramic fiber insulation for 97. This stuff is rated for 2300 F.

The 1200 F blanket should be fine from grainger a wood fire won't get much hotter than that.

A wood fired evap. with a blower will get much hotter than 1200 degrees. This is where I have been getting mine.

Many folks can get their arch doors (and other parts) to glow red and orange. It's takes around 1600-1700 degrees to make metal glow orange.

Mine used to glow. I know there's ceramic blanket out there with a 1900 and a 2600 rating because I've purchased both.

I think you want at least 1900 degrees. When I was doing mine I got a roll of 24" x 25' x 1" in 2100 degree ceramic. I also wrapped my stack with that and made an outer cover out of SS to keep it in place and protect it. The bottom edge has slits 1" deep and folded inward to cover the bottom of the blanket.
Just consider, a stack thermometer before I added AOF sometimes read 1600 F, it now sometimes reads about 900 F but you want more protection than what 1200 will give. Even if you have AOF, the blower could quit and you would have a temperature spike taking the temp up over that 1200 F.

Right... so uh I stand corrected. I guess I was thinking open air combustion. Well at least I got the higher temp 2300 stuff.
