3/16 single barb??

Last year I was having trouble with my leader 3/16 tubing popping off my leader 3/16 T's. They only have a single barb, and when I applied what seemed to be a normal amount of of pressure to get rid of sags some would pop off. I was using a two handed tool. I think I was leader's T's that a 3/16x3/16 with a 5/16 drop have a double barb. But I want to keep everything 3/16.

Has anyone else had this problem, and do you have ideas?

CDL 3/16 fittings are all double barbed. There's nothing wrong with 5/16 drops into 3/16 tubing the larger drops might even help keep the tap hole cleaner longer.

I hope they hold good I just put in 100 of them. I had a big limb fall on a line the other day and really stretched that line and they all held

well here I am 6 weeks later and a lot of subzero weather and two of my leader 3/16 tees have pulled off. These were on my fall lines of 40 taps, so 2 out of 40 have failed. I have not looked at my regular season lines, but they still look like they have tension from the house. I also discovered that if you bend them any they will not hold. I hope the rest hold as it is a pain going back and repairing and retensioning, especially when you have sap running in them. So my question is this a problem with all manufacturers or is this a Leader problem?

Buckeye, I am trying three different taps and tees this year. I noticed that Leader has single barbs but Lapierre and CDL both have double barbs on the tees. I am noticing that CDL is more of a chore to install (at least on Leader 3/16” tubing) than the others.

i ran leader 5/16 seasonal spouts and never had a problem last year with the single barbs pulling off. I would be more inclined to think it is the flexibility of the tubing not contouring to the barbs. after putting together 75 3/16 leader drops last night i don't see a problem going forward this year either

For the drops in a 3/6 lateral there are a few good reasons to use 5/16 drops. The best being that sap has a much harder time climbing in 5/16 thus resulting in less sap flowing back into the tap hole.

I'm putting new drops in and are doing 3/16 laterals with 5/16 drops on most of them for precisely this reason. I'm going to have a batch of droplines made up with 3/16 for places where I'm going to want to consistently tap below the lateral line because I think the 3/16 will be easier to pull sap up out under vacuum (I'll be using CV2 spouts as well).

I think keeping the 5/16 droplines clean will be a little easier too.
