Wondering if anyone has tried using high temperature flue tape (aluminum I guess) to wrap around a ceramic blanket to protect
rafters too close to a hot stack pipe? If not, how is a good way to attach
a ceramic blanket to slippery ss stack pipe?

I made a SS outer sleeve in light ga SS. It clamps around the insulation to hold it in place and I have 2 supports to anchor it up in place. It is not tight so as to squeeze the insulation tight. At the lower edge I cut a slit every inch at 1" deep, then each was folded in toward the inner pipe to create a finished edge, that is about 12" below the bottom cord of the adjacent trusses ("ceiling joists").
I would not trust any adhesive tape of any sort to hold the insulation in place.
