So Rob at Northwoods Stainless has my plans for our new arch and will also be building us a new 2x6 raised flue evaporator! It will consist of a 2x4 raised flue rear pan and (3) 12" x 24" cross flow pans (one will be a spare). Depending where we stand on money I may even have him build a WRU!

He got some more done on our pans. That isn't our arch he is still in the process of building that. Its starting to look like something!

I am looking to build a 2 x 6 evaporator to replace my old rig I built a few years ago. I was wondering if you share your plans/drawings?

Sure let me know how you want them. Sketchup or ACAD? Nothing special but may give you some ideas.

Not much has happened lately as I was waiting on valves and stuff. Here is a pic of 2 of the finished syrup pans.

Here are the pans complete! He will finish the stack this week. I need to finish the arch with the air nozzles and then paint it, put the stainless sides on, then insulate and brick it. It's getting there!

Got the Auto drawoff figured out and complete. We had to put the actuator and valve handle on the same side because it would hit the thermo. She's tight but I like the way it turned out. Now I just need to figure out how to wire the belimo actuator to the Auber SYL-2381-ma PID controller. If anyone has done this I'm all ears! I'm picking up the arch in the am and bringing it over to my dads shop so I can install the nozzles, paint it and install the stainless sides. We poured the slab this weekend and got permanent power out to the shack. We have been running the shack off an extension cord for 4 years! I cant wait to try this thing out!

Got a little bit of time on the arch yesterday afternoon. Just need to finish welding the rear manifold and weld on the side nozzles then I can get the stainless sides in!

Also got some work done on the maple control panel.

What size nozzles are you using on this arch?

I went by the UVM guidelines which said to use 3/8" nozzles? So my nozzles are 3/8" ID? Does it not like right? My fan is capable of 5-6" of static.

Got the arch skinned and painted! Mounted the AUF fan also. Time for insulation board and firebrick!

Ed we will be right around $7,000 all in, with sanitary valves, 5 PID control panel with modulating Auto Draw Off. (This message will self destruct in 1 day before my wife see's it!)

You are going to want to cover the air piping, otherwise that will warp within the first few boils. Ceramic blanket works, or you could use brick. Good luck with it.

I forgot to take a pic after, bit I have roxul on it and will be putting ceramic blanket on it when I get more(ran out). Do you think I'll be OK with 2" Roxul for the first couple of boils?

First few will be fine. Ceramic blanket will be the best. I am on year 5 with my arch, no warping around the air pipes

It took a little bit to get this thing figured out but we are loving it! It's running pretty steady at 40-42GPH! We made 8 gallons this weekend.
