Check out Steve Holt's new evaporator, paid for by a grant. I'm not sure how it is done but the claim is the new Tornado evaporator can make syrup 3 times faster, uses 1/3 the wood, and only needs to be fired every 35 minutes. And much more environmentally friendly. Must be some amazing technology inside.

No doubt, that is an impressive rig...but mixed emotions over here... sure looks like a government hand-out. $26,000 is a fist full of money.

Not meaning to rain on the parade, but D&G must be much better at sales in the U.S than here in Canada. The Tornado was my first choice when I was looking to upgrade evaporators, was talking to head office down in Quebec, asking information, etc. When I asked to see one in operation or talk to an owner the emails and phone calls abruptly quit.I am extremely happy with the current setup, and would definitely replace it with the same setup if I had to.Even this past winter at an information day I spoke to aD@G rep,who took my name, number and would contact me about seeing a Tornado in action within reasonable driving distance. I told my wife not to worry when she got the call, not interested in trading, just curious to see one in operation, call never came.Just saying if they had been more aggressive when I was shopping around and had followed up they might have made another sale

That's a good question. A more productive approach might be to say you are considering a purchase, but you want valid feed back on how the new model performs for other owners to make an informed decision.

Was running between 200-240 gallons per hour, now with steam away more like 350 per hour
