Tractor Question

My son wants me to trade my 1991 MF362 with loader, for a Kubota L4400
with loader. A smaller tractor would be handy in some jobs and eassier on
fuel, (a big issue these days).But I am wonerdering if it could handle the
biggest job we have of pulling the hay baler with wagon attached, as we
bale and load wagon as we go? My MF does not have 4X4, Kubota does.
Also , how is the Kubota's smaller bucket for snow? I do a few driveways. Any ideas? MF is 55hp , Kubota 37hp i think

I dont think you will be happy going smaller in horsepower anyhow. Some of todays tractors are a little more compact and I would try to stay in the same hp range that you already have. Another thing to look at is the tractors overall weight. You have to have weight to move weight and hold the weight back when towing. I upgraded from a 30 hp to a 45 hp and sometimes the 45 hp isnt enough and neither is the 6,000 lb. weight of the machine. 4 wheel drive makes a huge difference but you still need the weight to hold her down.

The L4400 is more that 37 HP. Its more like 45 HP but all the L series are light in the rear. The 4400 is a great tractor without a lot of bells & whistles.

I have a 4x4 Massey Fergusen 53 hp with a 6 ft bucket and a heated cab w/air. I pull a 600 gal bulk tank on a trailer and it does a great job.. I use it to clean snow on the sugar house rd....Its a 1/4 mile long....Its real good on fuel and has plenty of power....3 speed ranges......Its great gatering sap when its raining or snowy.....it weighs about 9000 lbs...

Sounds to me like the Kubota needs some loaded tires in the rear and that will plant her A--.!!

I got em loaded but they are still a light rear ended tractor. Without 4x4 they would be useless with a loader.

I've got a Kubota L3400 and the tires are loaded on it, but that doesnt help that much especially on a 11.2 x 24 rear tire. Might want to look at one of the Kubota grand L series tractors in a similiar size. The are quite a bit heavier that the L series.
