Hi all!

I'm getting some mixed answers from generator sales people and maple dealers... I want to put in a Lapierre 250 turbo RO that runs at 21 total amps at 220v as well as a 1.6 amp guzzler diaphragm pump and some lights in the shack. What size generator would be best? I was thinking a 10,000 watt but don't know what to expect from the pump startup surge. Any advice would be great!

Ask Lapierre what the start surge amps are. You want at least 50% more than that + what everything else will be using if they are all one when the RO tries to start. Then the generator should be rated at that wattage as a steady run, not just the surge amps or watts. A brown voltage (temporarily too low) during startup is the biggest cause of electric motor pre-mature failures.
