I have a Partridge that used to follow me around in the bush 4 years ago, he was around for years but then disappeared, then yesterday he was back, well, not sure if it is the same one, but i have a partridge following me again.

2 or 3 summers ago we had a grouse (thats what we call em here) acting the same way. He/she would follow us around the yard and woods. We would run the chainsaws or the quad and it would just hang out or follow us. The only thing it didnt like was getting chased by our mastiff. It would perch up in a tree and drive the dog crazy chirpping and squawking at him.

It is very common to have them follow you. I have one in my woods that comes to me as soon as it hears my 4-wheeler. It has flown along side of me for several hundred feet many times. My wife thinks it's just two bird brains bonding.

I wonder if they follow looking to eat up any insects you scare up as you walk?

They may be looking for a mate, use caution, dont flap your arms when they're around.
