This thread was on here the other day and it has links to some very good information about oil burners.

Our 3x8 leader came with a Carlin 601. We have a 5gph nozzle, which runs ~9 on high fire.

I have a carlin 201 crd for sale that I think would work good on a 2.5x8. It's max firing rate is 5.5 gph. The leader oil fired arch manual calls for 4-5 gph firing rate on a 2.5x8. I would sell it for $250. I bought it thinking I was going to get a 2.5x8 evaporator myself but ended up getting a 3x10 which needed a larger burner (got a 601 crd). 201 crd burner is in very good condition. 207-756-4469. I also have a 275 gallon lay down oil tank for free that is in good condition but needs new level gauge ( I broke the gauge when moving tank around).

I ended up with a carlin 301 crd going with a firing range of 6.0 60 degree round nose nozzle. I picked up a 550good skid tank with a gas boy pump for free. The burner was found at a salvage yards practically brand new.

I have converted the arch yet. Spent the last few weeks collecting what I need to do the conversion to oil. I am shooting for 800-1000. If I am burning 6 gph of oil I would like to make 4 gph of syrup. With the right type of wood I was makeing 4.5 gph of syrup. This year I was burning 3 year old oak and hit 1700 on the stack temp and the SS stack turned cherry red. I backed the blower down and started mixing pine in with it. But didn't the steam away hop up and down.
