This past weekend i decided to run both evaporators. I had an older one not being used to set it up to act as a preheater and then dump into the main evaporator. Worked out pretty well.16393

Back in the day a 15000 tap operation here in NH had a 4x12, 5x16, and a 6x16 all hooked together as one big unit. I believe oil was less back then because he had oil burners mounted on the rear of the rigs in addition to the front.
Back in the day we used to run 2 5x16 units drawing syrup from both at the same time. Learned to get 1 unit up and drawing well before you fired up the other one. Having syrup in the middle of both pans at the same time can give you some gray hairs.

At one time I ran two at once - 3x10 raised up 1&1/2 feet , gravity fed into a 30x8 . lots of wood , but its one way to make syrup faster . And people that stop in learned quick to stay out of the way !!! Now that I have gotten older , only run one 3x10 .
