Other than using my gear pump that I use in my filter press set up, is there another type of pump of similar fashion anyone is using to move hot syrup. I need it to move from my draw off 30' to canning room and would rather not use the gear pump off filter press .......Wondering if there is another type of gear pump out there for food grade moving of hot material. Otherwise I know I could just buy another oberdorfer gear pump...Trying to avoid sinking $ into diaphragm.....???

You could check out some of the home brewery sites.

There are a few others than the one I linked.

I have a March pump I bought from TESCO. It's designed to pump boiling liquid for brewing. It's completely sealed and the impeller is driven by magnets. Pretty slick little pump.

Cool, I just found a brewing site and was waiting for reply to get specs on the pumps. I have to lift the syrup about 10'. How long have you used yours ? do you lift the syrup with it at all?? Thanks!

I was using mine for sap, so perhaps it was different. My pump had no problem lifting sap about 8' into my head tank from a storage tank on the ground. TESCO was great to deal with. They had good prices on these pumps when I was shopping, and the same person answered the phone every time. Give them a call, I'm sure they could fill you in on any questions you may have.

Thank you for the link, I will look into these. The trick is finding pumps to move the hot syrup...looks like the brewery pumps could do this for 1/2 the cost of the maple pumps.....but not sure on the longevity....the chugger pump company looks to be the best with lifting up to 17' if needed and heat tolerance to 240 degrees....would like to know if anyone has used these pumps specifically....????
